Overview: Children learn about their digestive system, nutrition, and how to make healthier food choices. Finally, a human body show that children can really digest! Outcome: Students will journey through the human body and learn about the many body parts that to turn food into energy (transfer of energy). Using demonstration, observation, and interactive activities, students will understand why eating a healthy and balanced diet is so important. Students will also understand how the human body, with it's many organs, works together to function properly. Benchmarks: SC.K.L.14.1, SC.1.E.6.2, SC.2.L.14.1, SC.3.N.3.2, SC.4.L.17.2, SC.5.L.14.1 Set Up: Each show is geared for no more than 30 children. The presenter will need a small table (teacher's desk size) to set up on with the children either sitting in chairs, in a large semi-circle, or the children may sit at their desks. Presentations can be done in the classroom, media center, or cafeteria and the presenter must set up and stay in one room while the children rotate between classes/groups. Teacher/counselor participation is required. Hint: Bring cameras to document the educational fun!! Grade Level: This presentation is highly appropriate for grades K, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.
